Barbados sits at the end of the chain of Caribbean islands on the edge of the Atlantic ocean. Because of this the cool continuous trade winds keep the tropical climate in check providing fresh breezes with warm sunshine. Barbados also has a sufficient amount of rainfall too which helps to keep a comfortable average temperature all year round of 24-20 degrees Celsius of 74-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Compared to the other islands in the Caribbean the weather in Barbados tends to by drier and sunnier although there is always a risk of hurricane contact from the Southern edge of the Atlantic. Barbados doesn't have the damp dense tropical forests or misty jungles like Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Neither is it dry and arid like Aruba. The weather in Barbados is split into two sections of the year. The rainy season spans from July to November and the dry season from December to June. The wet season is usually very mild with quick refreshing downfalls followed by periods of sunshine. In the Caribbean the hurricane season spans from the 1st June to the 30th November officially with the peak months being August and September. Because of the Caribbean region being so vast the chances are very slim of being hit directly by a hurricane. Historically Barbados has always been missed by the worst of the most famous hurricanes although the islanders occasionally experience spectacular tropical storms which are very short lived and dry up in the sun afterward. The forecasts are normally very dependable so the weather in Barbados is often predictable. This table of climatological data below for the weather in Barbados is provided by the Grantley Adams International Airport in situated Bridgetown. As Barbados is relatively flat apart from a central area that has a gentle rise the table below provides a reliable gauge of the Barbados weather, the landmass of which is about only 2.5 times the size of the capital of America, Washington DC.
As the chart above shows Weather in Barbados is just one good reason to visit this amazing island. |
